Fenton Nelson Responds to Proposed "Octo-Mom" Decision

01-25-2011

Fenton Nelson partner Henry Fenton defended Dr. Michael Kamrava in an administrative trial before Administrative Law Judge Daniel Juarez in which the Medical Board of California sought to revoke Dr. Kamrava's license based on his care for a patient known as "Octomom."  Earlier this week, Judge Juarez issued a proposed decision rejecting revocation as too severe, and instead recommending probation for five years.

Asked for comment, Henry Fenton responded: "There is no final decision yet from the Medical Board, but I am very pleased that the Administrative Law Judge has recommended that Dr. Kamrava may keep his medical license and continue practicing as a physician and infertility specialist.  Dr. Kamrava is a fine doctor who has provided excellent medical care to his patients over the many years that he has practiced medicine in Southern California.  Unfortunately, he was confronted with an extremely unusual set of circumstance that led up to this case.  We are hopeful that the Medical Board will permit Dr. Kamrava to continue practicing and providing good medical care to his patients."
