Careers

Fenton Nelson is always looking for outstanding attorneys, paralegals, and support staff  to join our firm.  We are passionate about the work that we do and take great pride in providing great service and results to clients in a team-oriented workplace environment that encourages collaboration, camaraderie, and trust.

Candidates for any position should possess strong academic backgrounds, good interpersonal and communication skills, and be committed to working hard to exceed client expectations.  We value prior healthcare-related experience or training.

Experienced Attorneys (Laterals):  Fenton Nelson is interested in experienced attorneys whose practices are focused on healthcare law and whose experience and values are a good fit for our firm.  As a growing firm, there are enormous opportunities within our practice for candidates with the right combination of skills, professionalism, and strong communication skills.  Many laterals and candidates have commented on our enthusiasm and collaborative environment.  Our "secret" is that we like each other.  We do our best to provide a high level of support and professional development to help our attorneys realize thier p.  Occasionally, we initiate searches to meet particular needs, but we are always interested in hearing from experienced healthcare law attorneys who are interested in considering Fenton Nelson as a new home.

Healthcare Law Fellows: In September 2011, Fenton Nelson established the Healthcare Law Fellowship, a program for new attorneys.  The Fellowship is intended to expose recent law school graduates to healthcare legal issues and offers an excellent opportunity for new lawyers both to receive training and exposure to the field of healthcare law and to work on issues related to the advancement of the interests of healthcare providers.  Fellows will receive a stipend.  Candidates should have strong academic credentials and a demonstrated interest in  healthcare law.  Although the Fellowship position is intended to be time-limited position with the firm, we anticipate that, in the future, it may become a significant recruiting source for junior attorneys, with Fellows being considered for full-time associate positions in our firm.

Summer Associates:  Fenton Nelson maintains a Summer Associate program to bring a small number of highly talented, energetic first-year and second-year law students from top national and regional schools into our firm during law school with the possibility of post-law school employment.  Candidates should have a record of outstanding law school performance and examples of very strong writing ability.  Experience in the healthcare industry is helpful.

Historically, we have used our Summer Associate Program as our primary recruiting source for entry level attorneys.  We have deliberately kept our Summer Associate Program limited to a handful of candidates in order to ensure mentoring and the opportunity to get to know candidates well.  We try to provide summer associates the opportunity to experience client meetings, court appearances, and other experiences of attorney life at our firm.  Although we are committed to a supportive and collaborative culture, summer associates should be prepared for the fact that our practice can be highly demanding, and that we have high expectations.  If you are interested, please send us your curriculum vitae, transcript, and writing sample.  Please check with the chair of our Recruiting Committee, Jay Paik (jpaik@fentonnelson.com), for timing of consideration.

How to Apply:  If you are interested in joining us, please email recruiting@fentonnelson.com.  Written submissions should be sent to:
